Solved my problem, but with one flaw

Posted by Andrew Gorcester on Apr 20, 2014

Installation was complicated by a slight mechanical incompatibility -- the form factor of the flexible circuit board on the part I was sent was very slightly different from the form factor of that of the original part. Specifically, the original part has a chip connected by a sort of flexible arm that has a small gap between the chip and the main body, and the replacement part lacked that gap. I believe the photograph is closer to the original part than the replacement part. That having been said, I was still able to complete the repair. I used a screwdriver and mechanical force to physically take out a small plastic ridge in the phone chassis that was blocking insertion of the replacement part. Said ridge was entirely internal to the phone and was not difficult to remove. After that was done, the replacement part didn't stay in place as firmly as the original part, but once the case was closed that problem was rendered moot as the case holds it in place perfectly well. Once installed the replacement part worked perfectly well, so overall I'm pleased with the purchase.
