Straight replacement, no problems.

Straight replacement.
A bit troublesome on the HTC construction end of things, but otherwise a straight replacement.
Touch digitizer works fine, but the screen has a slightly different feel, like there's a slight texture on it. Not visible, but you can feel it ever so slightly.

To previous poster: Do a google "htc desire s dissassemby" or "htc desire s touch screen replacement". There's a few videos on youtube detailing this operation.
